Homemade Pizza
PhillyBoy makes the best homemade pizza dough I’ve ever had.. in my life. And I mean it. So when I decided to make homemade pizzas on Friday night I was a little nervous and hesitant, especially as he is in town and would be tasting it. It was the perfect starting post for this new blog. He uses the recipe from smitten kitchen which you can find here.
If there is one tip I can offer you all it is to be patient. Let your dough rise fully, or it will be too dense, and take your time rolling it out so that it can be nice and thin and crispy.
I doubled the recipe and made two pizzas since we were having people over.
My friend’s tomatoes are so amazing that we just had to use one, making the first pizza ingredients easy to decide: the ugly tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and kalamata olives. The second one was easy too.. roasted zucchini, a bit of tomato, and a bit of mozzarella. Keep the ingredients light to not weigh down the pizza.

I would say this was a great first attempt at pizza dough.. the recipe was really easy to follow and the dough was light and fluffy. I can’t wait to try it again!!
Wahoo! Pizza pizza!!! Unfortunately… I don’t have much patience….so I probably could never make very good homemade pizza/pizza dough unless I had someone there with me to monitor me and keep me calm. Sounds fun though!!!
Those pizzas look great! I’m definitely going to have to check out the recipe.
Have a great day 🙂
glidingcalm- seriously, the trick is to walk away! I am going for trial #2 tonight and am going to MAKE MYSELF stay away from the dough until it is definitely ready. Maybe I will go for a run while it rises so I CAN’T touch it!!
Heatherbakes- thanks! you too!!
