Oatmeal. It's what's for breakfast.
I ran out of bananas, and if you read the post before, you know I am trying to use stuff up, but I don’t really have any fruit in the house! I saw the roomie’s strawberries and they are on their way out so I decided to help her by taking 4 of them for my breakfast today. I eat breakfast in my office every day because it is more enjoyable to me than rushing around in the morning, and if I eat it too early I am simply too hungry the rest of the day!
Today’s breakfast was 1/2 serving cooked steel cut oats (with cinny, in water), 1 heaping tbs pb, and 4 cut up strawberries (100 g). Also had my daily travel mug of tea. I picked plain old Lipton today.
Re: Tea with no additions
I know I have commented about this on a bunch of your blogs before, but I feel compelled to share here.
A few years ago I drank my tea with milk + two sugars. That was in 2001 I think. Over the years I morphed from that to plain tea, steeped for 1 minute max, with no additions. Sometimes in the winter I even drink plain hot water. I don’t want to stain my teeth just because I want a warm drink! I brought myself to this point by making small changes, and I haven’t sweetened my tea in about 2 years now I would say. I really enjoy it most plain now. Here was my approximate progress:
milk and 2 sugars -> skim milk and 1.5 sugars -> skim milk and 2 equal -> skim milk and 1 splenda (this was more because splenda was the newest thing) -> skim milk only -> splash of skim -> NOTHING!
If I, the queen of English tea, could do it, then you can too! (or should that be than? I can never get those right, because than is used in a quantitative way right? or is it then? ahhh!)
Now onto iced coffee… I enjoyed one this morning with a splash of milk and sugar free hazelnut syrup. I know that sf anything is poison, but I am weaning myself slowly with the iced coffee..
P.S.ers… just found out my cousin is 11 weeks pregnant! yayyyy! congrats H + K!

I REALLY need to cut out some of my sugars. You’re my motivation!
Do you add any sweetener into the oats?
Congrats on your cousin!

no sweetener in the oats..i find that the toppings are always sweet enough. let me know how cutting out sugars works for you!!!

It’s “then” it would be “than” if you said something comparative … “If not this, than that.”
“If not tea, than ice coffee.”
I also have been weaning over the years (ice coffee).
First cream and one sugar, then cream only, then extra milk, then milk only!

good for you, I’ve never been big on putting sugar in my tea… sometimes i hold a mug of hot water (i’m always cold), but i don’t think i’ve ever just drank (drunk?) the warm water!
