Wedding Details: Bridal Shower!
Like I mentioned in my last post…. my Philly family threw me a bridal shower this weekend! It was so special and thoughtful and fun! I know that lots of newlyweds and brides read my posts, so I am going to share all the details!
I don’t even know where to began. I was all smiles. There were lots of surprises too!
When we showed up to Scoogi’s Restaurant, under the guise that it was a family party, all of my new Philly friends and family.. and more.. were waiting for me! It was such an awesome surprise. I had an inkling that something was going on (my outfit definitely screams “my bridal shower is today”) but I thought it would only be a few people. Instead, it was 44! WOWOWOWOW! Everyone was smiley and happy and I just loved it. Right when we walked in my FMIL (that’s future mother in law) and FSIL (future sister in law) slapped some fun hats on PB and I. Bride for me, Groom for him. I sooo want to wear them to the airport on the way to the honeymoon hahahaha.
Let’s try that again…
PB didn’t feel very welcome (the women were ready for the shower to start- no boys allowed!) so he headed off to center city to hang out with two of our friends’ husbands (Darren and Mark). My FMIL and FSIL really should start a party planning business. They thought of everything! Each place setting had a little organza bag with teal (one of the colors in our wedding) and purple M&Ms with a pretty ribbon with our names and the date on it, plus a cute little notebook.
The gift table had a gorgeous guest book and a frame filled with pictures of PB and I when we were kids:
Each table had a beautiful potted plant that my FMIL and her awesome husband Ed planted the day before:
And above my chair she had put a beautiful white parasol that is mine to keep!
The menu was delicious too! There was a great buffet with assorted salads, a yummy baked pasta, melt-in-your-mouth salmon, chicken I didnt try, roasted asparagus, bread, and my fav of them all.. white and red wine! It was all delicious, light and healthy. Wasn’t too difficult to make good decisions!
She had a pretty vanilla and chocolate cake made with our names on it and whatnot. It was so pretty! Here was my piece (I ate about half):
After we all caught up and enjoyed our food it was time for games! They were really fun. First everyone played Bridal Bingo, which is just bingo with bridal words! Then we played this 20 questions game where PB had already answered questions and they had to see how well I knew him. The two answers that stunk the most…
1. PB was asked if I was an animal what would I be. His answer? An ANTELOPE! no joke. He says it is because of my abnormally long arms (wha????)
and
2. What his favorite food is.. I answered PIZZA because we make it together all the time and he makes a homemade dough at least once a week for himself. his answer? Chicken, pilaf, and pita. That is such BS! Not true!!!
And then there were some embarrassing ones.. those made me laugh. well, i laughed the whole time.
After game time I was given all of my presents to open. I know that no one really likes that part so I tried to open quickly! I had such a ball, and received some lovely things.. a few pictures…
a picture of all my philly ladies!
My FMIL asking me questions for the Newlywed game!
(I needed a wine break from all the embarrassment hahaha)
I loved all of my thoughtful presents!
Especially the hilarious penguin puppet wrapped in VICTORIA’S SECRET tissue paper!
A closeup of my fabulous gift unwrapping job (you bet I didn’t rip that much paper!)
Oh there were soooo many surprises… some of them:
The whole shower! My FMIL is so amazing in every way. I am so lucky to be joining such an amazing family!!! She planned so many lovely little details into the day!
I helped my dad out at his other business on Friday, and when I got back to my usual office it was completely empty except for my dad! I didn’t think twice when he said he sent everyone home a few minutes early since it was Friday. Come to find out it was because half of them were on their way to Philly to surprise me! Among the surprise RI guests:
My sister in law, Shawna:
My cousins Raz and Veronica:
My brother!
And then later on my future father in law took all of us to dinner.. and who showed up? MY DAD!
I am getting emotional all over again just thinking about it. The fact that my dad came down for dinner makes me so happy. A lot of you know that my mom is no longer around, so to have my dad there meant so much more to me. I have an amazing father. (enter waterworks).
And to have such a beautiful new family makes me so happy too. I am an extremely lucky girl.
Thank you to everyone!!!! My Philly family and friends who all showered me with love, my FMIL and FSIL for throwing me such a beautiful shower, and my Rhodey guests too!
(my FMIL, PB, me, my FSIL)
Now I really feel like a bride, and I am getting antsy for the wedding to come! Only 138 days until our wedding!!!!
**************************************************************************
Leaving this weekend was so hard. I cried in the airport (so mortifying). I was waiting in this really long security line (the new airport security in Philly is taking some adjusting to) and I just burst into tears thinking about the weekend. They were happy tears because the weekend was so nice, but also sad tears because it was over and I was leaving PB for another two weeks. I am such a baby!
In other news… I will be back tomorrow night with a new healthy, quick, balanced lovely lunch for you all to make!!!!!

Aww, what a fun surprise! I didn’t have a shower, but my sister organized the bridal bingo for my bachelorette party (while we were getting ready to go out) and it was so much fun. One of my friends actually met up with my then fiance and videotaped all of his answers. It was so cute seeing him answer these. Some answers made me laugh, others make me tear up. I saw how embarrased he got with some questions. So.freaking.cute.
I’m getting excited for you with the wedding coming so soon. It’s the best day:)
