Bachelorette Weekend: Part 2 The Cookoff
Where did I leave off? Oh yeah, the cookoff!
What is the best way to get a group of lazy sun-craving girls to cook a fabulous lunch?
Make it a competition!
D split us up into teams, and here were the things we had to cook:
Everything was set out for each team:
And then Day passed out the chef’s hats (old school BK crown with paper taped around it- genius!). Then everyone got serious!
Julie & I were in charge of grilled eggplant. How fun!! My chef’s hat kept falling over my eyes but since I had the biggest one (doesn’t the bachelorette deserve that????) I kept it on!
When we were done cooking and before eating we had a nice refreshing beverage thanks to Day’s mom and Beth’s great bartending skills. I believe it was homemade lemonade + Crystal Light iced tea + vodka. Whatever it was, it was fabulous.
And now… it’s time to eat! On the menu, cooked by all the lovely teams:
Grilled chicken sandwiches (1/2 with pesto, 1/2 with balsamic vinegar)
Chickpea and feta salad
Regular salad
Grilled eggplant
Prosciutto & Melone
Caprese Salad
…and an AMAZING cake made my Day’s mom! It was a CASTLE!
The Whole Spread:
And the CAKE! It was one of Giada’s ricotta cake recipes… Isn’t it so pretty?
One of the food items won by a landslide, and it wasn’t the cake since that wasn’t allowed to be part of the contest… can you guess what won?
Sadly, you will have to wait until the next post to find out the winner!!!!!!

Looks like SO much fun!!!
Girl, I need to know what arm workouts you do! They look great!
What a fun bachelorette activity! Although all of the food looks delish, I’m guessing that the grilled chicken sandwiches won b/c anything with pesto is amazing ;).

Oh my gosh! That looks like so much fun!!
What fun! 🙂
What a fabulous afternoon! And such a cute idea to have a cooking competition. I would vote that the bean salad won for best tasting. That cake looks awesome!
As a newlywed myself, enjoy these last 2.5 weeks. They go so quickly and the wedding is there and done before you know it. At the end of the day, enjoy everything that is happening around you – it is such a special time!
This is a FABULOUS idea! Glad you guys had fun and the food looks AWESOME! The wedding is SO close!
