The Fairmount Farmer's Market & A Rainbow
Since I started working from home I have made an effort every day to do something outside. Sometimes that means purposely forgetting something I need from the market so I have to walk there and get it, but other times it is a planned fun activity! On Wednesday afternoon I found out about the Fairmount Farmer’s Market on Thursdays at 3 PM, so I decided to start work early that day and sneak out to check it out.
Let me just say… for a small market with only 5 or 6 stands, it was perfect. The produce was gorgeous, the people were friendly and warm, and I felt like I was picking up a little piece of the area we live in just by visiting. Here is a little glimpse of each stand (except for the meat stand as all of their goods are in coolers…):
For $8.50 I ended up with 9 zucchini (we had a dinner party to go to Saturday and I was in charge of bringing a side- more on that another time), 6 peaches (for ANOTHER dinner party!), a big bunch of basil to make some fresh pesto, and a loaf of sourdough bread. Everything was delicious, and everything was used up over the last few days to make some delicious foods!!!! I can’t wait to go again this Thursday! I also bought a piece of filet mignon for PB (at $19.95/lb it was really pricey), and he said it was really good!
For lunch Friday I took advantage of one of the smaller zucchini and a piece of sourdough bread to make a sandwich for PB. I quickly cooked the zucchini- sliced- in a pan for 5 minutes after topping it with kosher salt, pepper, and some other spices (red pepper flakes, basil, and oregano). Then I added it to the sourdough bread, put some feta on it, and lunch was done! PB really enjoyed it!!!!
In other news, yesterday we had the most interesting weather.. downpours followed by sunshine and then downpour again. We saw a complete HUGE rainbow!!! Have you ever seen one before where you could see the whole arch? It was breathtaking, even though the highway got in the way:
I wish you all a fabulous Sunday filled with rainbows and sunshine.

That is such a good idea to plan to do something outside each day! I know I would probably go days in the house! Maybe you could get a little doggy?
And I love Fairmount Park! Have you been to Reading Terminal? It’s inside, but really fun as well.
Excellent idea to get out every day! That farmer’s market looks lovely…and the rainbow is gorgeous. Happy Sunday to you and PB!

i defintely feel you about getting out of the house each day- even though you dont have a commute, something about going outside even if its just a quick walk is a good thing!

I think it’s great that you are making an effort to get outside every day! I really should follow your example.
Beautiful rainbow! I’ve seen a full rainbow before, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen any at all. I don’t think it’s possible to see a rainbow and not be happy. 🙂
