Let it snow!
What a day! What a night!
To recap:
PhillyBoy and I woke up at 6:30 AM Saturday to run with some friends before the storm started… we already had a few inches of snow on the ground. Everyone went back to bed.
I spent the day wrapping presents while PB read from his childhood diary (he is blogging about it here). And of course we watched lots of TV. Our friend gave us some homemade chocolate chip cookies on Friday night and I managed to eat 5 throughout the day. Whoops! I guess it happens every once in a while.
Around 4 PM PB and I put on our snowboarding gear to “ride the hill”. You can imagine how small the hill was- it only took us about a minute to run back up it. We got a decent workout in, and PB practiced. He is new to winter sports but he is learning! I think he needs to work on his turns a bit…

His thoughts…

He was so happy!
I am retiring my snowboard this year. It is a very old K2 Luna my parents bought me sometime in high school, around the same time they bought me the jacket I still wear! I bought a new ride a couple of weeks ago when I bought PB’s snowboard. (Our last snowboarding trip can be found here.) It is the 2008 K2 Luna and I can’t wait to christen it next weekend!
We didn’t want to cancel dinner with our friends so we bundled up and headed to Center City. Turns out the trains weren’t working so we walked about 6 blocks before we found a cab willing to take us to the higher streets. We had a fabulous dinner with our friends at Pod, to be reviewed in a separate post. We walked back to their place for a few drinks and by the time we left it was late. We saw one or two cabs but they were either taken or unwilling to take us home. We walked. About 3 miles.
When we arrived at home there were fire trucks in front of our building. It seems as though a transformer had caught fire, but no one was hurt. They put it out without problems but a few cars ended up in a lake of water from the overflowing fire hydrant. I honestly thought the cars would be totaled (they were not).
All in all, it was an amazing first snowstorm in Philadelphia, and quite the adventure! Did the snow hit you too? What did you do?
I am on my way to Rhode Island for Christmas week!
