Shopping Trip!
Well this weekend was FABULOUS! We got so much checked off of our to do list, and I got the house ready for fall by changing up some of the decor and changing over my closet. PB and I both went through our closets and made a huge donation pile (2 contractor bags’ worth) of clothes to donate that we have never worn, not worn in a few years, or look toooo worn out. Then we pulled out our winter stuff and reorganized things. I also dusted the whole house from top to bottom, vacuumed everything (even the moldings which I rarely do) and mopped almost the whole house. I mop the kitchen and entrance at least once a week, but the rest kind of gets done whenever I get to it which is nasty! The only thing left to do as far as deep cleaning goes is the showers and the bathroom floors, as well as our bedroom floor since we destroyed it with our cleaning yesterday.
Things we excitedly bought this weekend:
POTPOURRI & NEW WALL HANGING! Our house looks like such a pretty fall house with our new potpourri, which I put in a beautiful shallow gold bowl as the centerpiece on a dark brown tablecloth on our dining room table. And we got a fun little wall hanging for an empty space on the far wall of our living room that looked a bit too empty. It looks good now and will look even better when our next purchase arrives.
NEW COUCHES! We got a gorgeous 3 seater with a chaise lounge. It is so so so so so pretty and I can’t wait until we get our delivery in 6-8 weeks! We finally got MICROFIBER (aka MICROSUEDE) which I have been wanting forEVER. I had leather couches at my place and PB had his old black leather ones which we have been using since I moved. We finally splurged and bought couches but guess what? They weren’t even that expensive since we bought a small set for our small space. We chose mocha and the configuration is the opposite of what you see here. My MIL helped us pick them out, and we had so much fun testing out couches.
SHOE UNDERS! Our shoes aside from a pair of flip flops and slippers each (and my winter boots) are all in shoe unders under our master bed. They are sealed with zippers, AND they are no longer in the closets woohoooo!!!! PB has a tough time with closet stuff since he doesn’t have a light in there (poor thing) and has to use a stinkin flashlight. He gave up the walk-in to me. This building was definitely built a long time ago when people didn’t have so much stuff. And we don’t even have that much anymore.
CLOTHES FOR PB! Oddly enough, for my real birthday present PB and I agreed to buy him some new clothes. He had that fab party for me and that was plenty. I have really been wanting to outfit him in some new stuff since he hasn’t purchased anything since before our wedding, and he agreed! We had no luck at Banana Republic so we went to Nordstrom where a nice dude helped us find a few pair of gorgeous slacks and a whole pile of shirts including a splurge of a Burberry shirt that is just STUNNING on him.
ATL LOUNGE CLOTHES FOR ME! We stopped in quickly to Ann Taylor Loft and I got a comfy oversize sweater and a pair of plain black lounge pants. Mine are getting kind of grungy and since I work from home in lounge wear I need nicer things!
CEREAL!!!!!! So don’t laugh, but we went to Wegman’s since we were in NJ and we bought 4 boxes of cereal- 2 each. Freshman year of college all of us girls on the 3rd floor of McVinney at Providence College ate this Cracklin’ Oat Bran cereal they had in our cafeteria, Ray. I wonder if they still buy it? It is super high calorie but I have wanted to have some again for years and we saw it at Wegman’s! I got a box of that and Life cereal! We haven’t had fun cereals in the house EVER and I am so excited for breakfast! PB picked Raisin Bran Crunch and Corn Pops (boring).
It was such a fun weekend with my husband making our home beautiful and comfortable, and it was so fun. We did spend a bit of money but I have been waiting to buy couches since forever (I’ve never purchased couches before- I borrowed some when I lived in Cranston and PB already had his when I moved down) and PB desperately needed some hot new work clothes. And our home looks so fresh and clean- I love it!!
Oh and among all of this… PB ran 13 miles of hills like it was no big deal, aside from a quick 30 minute nap cocooned in a blanket at my MIL’s house. Did I mention he is running the Philadelphia Marathon this year? (Last year’s half marathon recaps) I will be cheering him on from the sidelines as well as hosting a fab after party. Menu coming soon!
P.S. TODAY IS THE BEST MONDAY EVER BECAUSE GOSSIP GIRL IS BACK!!!!!!
i need to go shopping too! thanks for the reminder…now if only nate would get on board with that 🙂
Hey – where’d you get the shoe unders things?! I need a new solution to my shoe “situation” as greg likes to call it. I totally agree that shopping for him is sometimes a gift to me because then I don’t have to hate everything he wears!!
@Colleen C, Bed Bath & Beyond! They are perfect except that the shoe slots are a bit small. My peep toe heels had to go one/slot, but everything else was fine (especially the men’s shoes).
@RhodeyGirlTests, Ha! I was thinking that exact problem “well will each shoe need it’s own slot?!” ha … we *still* have gift certificates there from the wedding, might need to do some shopping 🙂
I spent yesterday cleaning my home too. I still have to get the closet done and the bathrooms deep cleaned. I leave the mopping to my hubby because I can’t stand to do it and he takes it so seriously!
Don’t you love productive weekends :o)
Simply the best!
Thanks so much for sharing.
PS. Loving the PB snuggle picture!
Don’t you just love Wegmans?! Best grocery store on earth. And I love Cracklin Oat Bran, too!
i desperately need to clean out/reorganize my closet! last time i went to visit my parents my husband bought 8 boxes of cereal because they were so cheap
What a successful shopping trip you had. Isn’t it so great to come home to a completely clean house?! I really need to do the same thing. Have a great day!
Haha! Ray still has those! I never knew what they were, just that they were addicting.
Ray has made some strides. We have Hemp Plus granola now. That I steal in large ziplocs.
@Cassie, And to think, we had to BEG for baby carrots and veggie burgers.
Amazing! I miss PC!!!!
Hooray for the great finds! We have similar microfiber couches and I love them. They are so comfortable. That is very exciting that PB is running the marathon. I can’t wait to see your party menu!!!
LOVE the new couch. I heart chaise lounges.
Where did you get the shoe unders? That’s such a great idea for saving space in the closet!
@Sarah, Bed Bath & Beyond!!!!
Yeah to Gossip Girl, couches, lounge wear and Cracklin’ Oat Bran!!!
Ha! I love this post because it’s clearly obvious how excited you are about all of this! Either that or you had too much coffee 😉
The couch looks very comfy. We have one like that with a chaise and it is really comfortable but actually TOO BIG. Waiting until kiddo is less messy to get a new one, though.
It really is the best place in the world. I don’t know how I’m going to leave come May.
I want to be dancing on top of a Clubbies pool table forever.
Sabrina- you are so cute! (Thank you for the bag 😉 ) Amy sent it to me today and I am so pumped. You are such a gem. Thank you!
LOVED Cracklin’ Oat Bran in college! .. 4 months ago. I remember eating it a lot as a kid though too, I think my dad always had it. So good 🙂
Your weekend sounds fabulous. I love your new couches.
So fun! My husband and I were just able to add a “clothing” line item to our budget, and I’m soe excited for it! Both of us need a few upgrades!
You gave me the redecorating bug!! I would looove new couches! Congrats to PB on the marathon– I am running it too; my first!
