Video: Italy 2011
I don’t even know what to say or where to begin.
You know when a vacation is so important and memorable that you can’t imagine it ending? That was our trip to Italy.
We bonded with our cousins who met us there. We relived old memories of Rome (for him) and Florence (for me). We had some serious adventures, especially in driving. We spent time with our family in Trieste who I hadn’t seen since 2004. We heard some fascinating war stories from Nonna. We (well, ahem, the BOYS) shopped til we/they dropped. We ate deliciously simple foods one can only hope to replicate at home. We filled our hearts with love and memories and I never wanted to come home.
To help you understand how magical our trip was, PB created a video. It can’t be embedded since it is a Google doc, but please click this link to view. Note: it is quite long but worth watching!
I hope that helps you begin to understand what Italy was like for us, but don’t worry if it doesn’t.. I’ll be providing some explanations soon!
Signed,
In love with my husband, bambino, and Italia…
PS- Check out my latest Babycenter post on why I don’t want a boy. It’s not for any the reasons you might think! It’s actually quite silly.
hahahaha- your baby center post cracks me up. If it makes you feel any better- we didn’t and still don’t have a name picked out :). I think we’re going to be one of those couples who decides in the delivery room (but hopefully not). Loved the video “I’m too busy eating my pizza to chat ;)).
what a sweet post! such a cute video.
Ok I seriously watched the entire video – it was so touching and heartwarming!!! π So glad you guys had such a lovely babymoon! And Phillyboy did a wonderful job on the video – that’s a heck of a production right there, hehe. Take care!
And if it’s any consolation, Sherif and I can’t agree on a boy’s name either (not that we have any urgency because we’re waiting for a few years to have a baby). But boy’s names are hard. π I agree!
What a wonderful trip! I have been wanting to visit Italy nearly all my life. I hope to have as enjoyable of a time as you did when I finally do. π
i can’t believe you are writing for babycenter! that’s awesome. starting video now…
Quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve seen! If PB’s lawyer thing doesn’t pan out; he’d make a great film editor!
My husband lived in Italy for a year and I’ve been three times. My family is from Viggiano which is in the South. I loove your video! Blood orange juice and cornetto for breakfast? Che bella! π
Just think of all the memories you’re collecting and creating to share with your little one on the way….he or she will LOVE watching these videos. I know my kids get a kick out of looking at the photos of me baring my belly when I was pregnant.
Is the gelateria you went to in Rome (near the beginning of the video) near the Trevi Fountain? If so, I’m almost positive I’ve been to the same one and had the most glorious pistachio gelato π Your pictures and videos make me want to go back!!!!
@Sarah, The one where PB is “conquering his demons” ??? Yes, I think that is near the Trevi. It was in Piazza Venezia, about a 5-10 minute walk from the Trevi. Go back go back!
That video makes me want to go to Italy for our honeymoon!! I just know we won’t have enough time to make that trip…hopefully our’s will be a babymoon next year!
BTW your arms look so great in your wedding picture on the side bar. It’s my motivation every time I come to your page and to push myself harder during arm workouts
@Stacy R., Thanks so much for the compliment. The few months before my wedding I did pushups, dips, planks and abs every single morning for 10 minutes, plus once a week workouts with a trainer. I swear, though, that the 10 minutes every morning is what made the difference for me. I want those arms back!!!
Loved the video. Thanks for sharing your trip!!
Loved the video!! Looked like an amazing time. I sure miss Italy, it was fun to see some of the places you guys went to I was there before π Sure would of been more fun though with you
You are so stylish!, may I ask were you got your purple hat and black wrap jacket?
@Natasha, Thanks! The hat is from a little boutique at the outdoor shopping center Garden City in Cranston, RI, so that might be a tough one. The jacket, however, is from Lululemon (believe it or not) and it is my absolute FAVORITE jacket, especially for traveling. When I’m on a gross plane or something and want to snuggle on the seat I can turn up the oversize collar. When it’s cold I can button it really tight. And when the weather is nice it looks good unbuttoned! Go buy one- it’s worth it!
Congrats girl on this next chapter of your life. HOw exciting. 3 weeks ago I gave birth to a baby boy and at 25 weeks my husband and I went on a lovely babymoon to Thailand. It was tough at times too (ours was a boat trip and I had a definite belly at this point) but wow it was important for us to have this vacation before he arrived. Your cravings sound very similar to mine and in the end of my pregnancy I was craving ice like a mofo including during delivery. My parents just left visiting us to go see my sister who lives in Milan so I loved this post for more reasons than bambino π Hoping your nausesa subsides soon oh and I hear ya on the breathlessness too. The week after I gave birth I was amazed how far I could walk again!! Xx
@GirlonRaw, Ooohhh Thailand. Fun!! I’m happy to know that the breathlessness is normal. I put SO much ice in my drinks right now it is funny- more ice than water!Congratulations on your baby boy!
I just sat here and watched your video after I put my girls to bed. What an amazing trip. It was so neat to see the culture and lifestyles over there. It sort of made me feel like I was there peeking in. Thank you for posting π
Your babycenter post was too cute! I’m glad you had a great vacation. The video is amazing!
Loved the video! Can you share what type of video camera you used? I’m wondering if it was something like a Flip or a regular mini camcorder. Thanks!
I was wondering the same thing. π
That video was so cute! I never think to take videos very often when I’m vacationing but it’s probably one of the better ways to document certain moments. π Looks like you had a faaaabulous trip.
I just watched the whole video and it was so great. Looks like you all had such a nice time. I really need to figure out how to put together videos like that because I do have clips from past vacations in Jamaica and we are in talks about taking a Mediterranean cruise so it’s time to learn.
It’s been a real long time since I have been to Italy (went in high school) so it was neat to see your vacation memories.
