I deserve to treat myself to lunch.
In the last 24 hours our washer/dryer busted, leaving me with 1/2 inch of water in the hallway, half of the bedroom and half of the living room. My arms are so sore from lifting heavy, soaked towels to the bathtub to ring out. Then the supply hose to our hot water heater got a pinhole this morning and caused a secondary leak today.
And I cried in front of the maintenance guy.
It’s been an interesting 24 hours.
I realize my life could be much worse but I really have a tough time dealing with emergency home issues, especially since every single one has happened while PB was away in the two years since I moved here.
In honor of my bad day I treated myself to lunch from my favorite neighborhood place- RyBread.
Grilled cheese with tomato and well done bacon and a bag of yummy chips.
I deserved to treat myself to lunch.

You are right – you deserve that!! Sorry to hear about the mess, sounds downright awful! I would have cried, too, and I’m not even pregnant/extra emotional!

You absolutely deserve a yummy lunch. I, too, would have lost it in front of the maintence guy. YHere’s hoping for a less eventful rest of the week for you.

I feel your pain- I think I’ve dealt with every major home problem that exits since I moved into my condo 4 years ago. A/C breaking during a week of temps in the upper 90′s, roof leaking x2, and the best of all was my first Christmas here. I had to work on the holiday, so my family drove up to be with me. I had no furniture (except for one couch) and no tv, which would have been fine except my mom had broken he foot and we were house-bound. I told my family that no one was allowed to take a shower because I had just found out that my bathroom was leaking into the unit below mine. Then to top it all off, my dad tried to install a new garbage disposal for me but the pipes were so corroded that they crumbled in his hands! So we had no use of running water in the kitchen for our holiday meal. So just picture us, all crammed onto one couch, staring at the wall, not showered, nowhere to go, and with a kitchen full of dirty dishes!

Indeed, a well-deserved treat.
Frankly, I find it helpful to cry in front of repairmen and the like.
I, too, have had to deal with home emergencies only when my husband was away — usually without cell coverage so I couldn’t even call him to shout a bit. It’s character building, no?

You WAY more than deserved that lunch! I am so sorry all of that happened- especially while you’re preggers! You DO NOT need stress! I think you deserve another treat tonight- pedicure? frozen yogurt? Do it up!

I totally say that you deserved to treat yourself to lunch! I hate dealing with situations like that! I had a similar thing happen to me the week after New Years. Our upstairs neighbor’s (we live in a condo) hot water heater burst and started flooding our condo with water! It was awful. To make matters worse he only lived in the condo once a month. His primary home is in Chicago. It was a nightmare trying to get his phone number and to get the water shut off. I totally know how you feel today.
Do it up! You deserve ice cream for dessert!

Lunch looks like it was deee-lish.

that is the kind of situation that reduces me to tears as well. Last summer our fridge broke down at the start of a long weekend and I lost so much food… then it took $%&* KitchenAid weeks to fix it, then it broke again…. just amazing how broken appliances and poor customer service can mess with your mental health! you deserve a few more special lunches!

Ugh. I’m sorry. Timing is funny/crappy like that. But I’m all about a little food therapy now and then.
