Good luck! You look great! FYI-I was induced and was GBS positive. Neither are anything to be afraid of- none of that will matter once he’s here!

  2. I remember getting hassled about our decision to cloth diaper before R was born. I think part of it is cloth diapers were so bad until recently (non-absorbing cloths, safety pins, plastic pants) that older women couldn’t wrap their heads around it. Once we were able to show off the diapers and let the grandparents try a diaper change it was all good.

  3. Fun and loaded update. I can’t believe you’re already packing!! I don’t have a single thing washed and haven’t even thought about packing yet.

  4. Raz

    Your glowing – Beautiful!!

  5. Haha, maybe that’s why we’re both so organized (and perhaps OCD ;)- I’m a virgo, too!

You look fantastic and I’m so happy you had such a great shower. I also have a big ‘birthing’ ball and it feels great to sit on. I have to do most of my computer work from the couch or the ball now because my old computer chair makes my butt go numb- haah πŸ™‚

  6. Glad the shower was fun!!!!!! Its so fun to get everything organized/ready! I think you look adorable. I started packing my bag early too- its just nice to know its there and almost ready just in case you go early. I really worried about being induced too, but in the end it turned out really well for us. I was GBS positive. It was kind of annoying to get medication via IV every four hours, but I was on constant fluids anyways…so it didn’t really make too much of a difference! Keep pushing over there!

  7. Amy

I LOVE cloth diapering-just get a good diaper pail system because they can get smelly. I don’t even mind the extra bit of laundry.

We use disposables at night simply because i don’t want the wet cloth against my son’s skin all night-that is where disposable has an advantage. They pull the moisture away from baby’s skin.

Do what you feel is right and don’t worry about other’s opinions πŸ™‚

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@Amy, What pail system do you use? I got a large planet wise wet/dry bag that I was planning on using. It has a zipper and “they” say it keeps the smell in. Thoughts?

  8. brittany

i haven’t checked out the baby center post / double chin post yet but i have to comment really quick that your hair and skin look AMAZING in these pictures!! all the weight is for your sweet baby boy!! i’m 29 weeks right now and kind of freaking out about the weight too but i keep thinking that my baby boy will have the cutest chubby cheeks ever and who doesn’t love a chubby baby!!??! you look soooo pretty and just keep reminding yourself that you can work out as much and as hard as you want as soon as your baby boy comes! That thought has been what’s keeping me positive during this fat stage πŸ™‚

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@brittany, Thanks Brittany. My hair looks good for once because I spent over an hour blowdrying it hahahah. I was NOT blessed with the pregnant shiny hair thing.

Do you feel ready? I am at that point where I am just READY!

      • brittany

@RhodeyGirlTests, omg that’s the same with me i have very very long hair and it’s sooo sooo much work to make it look nice, plus it is SO HOT OUTSIDE, that most days i just wear it in a braid or ponytail.

i honestly don’t feel 100% ready πŸ™ … yet.. I feel like i still have a lot to learn about things like breastfeeding, the actual delivery. but i AM ready to be able to breathe again normally and not feel so tired/ sore/ helpless

  9. I think you look absolutely glowing and gorgeous Sabrina! πŸ™‚

  10. You look beautiful, Sabrina. I think that other photo was just a bad angle. It’s hard to tell much from the picture besides the fact that you look really happy!

  11. I think it is GREAT that you are preparing early! I’m sure you will be SO SO happy that you did… this will allow you to really enjoy all your guests and upcoming events without all the preparation weighing on your mind.

You are totally glowing my dear!

  12. You are getting a lot done! Way to go. Better to be way prepared than not. I am freaking out here about not having my crib set up at 29 weeks!! One day at a time, I keep repeating to myself. I too am also only interested in breakfast. I rather have my lunches and dinners prepared for me. HA! You look really great! Sounds like everything is going well. I got the talk by my mom even now about my laptop and working at it for 8 hours a day and how it could affect my baby. What can I do? It is frustrating trying to do the best for your unborn, but I say, God is taking care of it all.

  13. You look beautiful!

I totally hear ya on people’s opinions about all things related to Bambino. When my husband and I were discussing names for Baby Girl (I’m 20 weeks tomorrow!) and mentioned one of our favorites to my Grandfather, who is 90, he made this AWFUL face and said that he really didn’t like it. His comment made me realize the same thing that you did, everyone has an opinion and everyone seems to think they know best when it comes to YOUR child. It’s hard not to take it personally, I know I sure do, and I have to remind myself that they care about Baby Girl and just want what is best for her. Sigh. Needless to say we aren’t sharing our final name choices with anyone until she’s here, lol.

We are also seriously considering CDing so I’m excited to hear how your experience goes!

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@Danielle, I will be sure to write all about CDing and how it goes. I really hope to be successful in that and breastfeeding πŸ™‚

We haven’t told ANYONE the name for the reason you mention above.

  14. Lots of people in your nonna’s generation (and even the generation after that – i.e. our mothers’ generation) don’t understand cloth diapering. When disposibles came on the scene it was such a modern miracle! However, today’s cloth dipes are so much better and easier (no pins or plastic pants to worry about). She’ll understand in time! BTW, if you ever need disposibles for any reason, we love the ones from Seventh Generation.

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@BethT, Thanks Beth! I think we will use seventh generation for the first few weeks until bambino fits into the bumgenius diapers! Everyone I’ve spoken to who has used them likes them.

I tried to explain to my nonna that there is no folding involved or anything, but she doesn’t get it! Hopefully she will understand once she sees them.

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@BethT, I just deleted my own comment. WHOOPS! Anyway, thanks for the 2th generation suggestion- I think we will use them for traveling and until bambino fits in the bumgenius ones!

  15. Oh my goodness! How fabulous do you look?! You must be so ready to meet your little man!

    Come on bambino! πŸ™‚

  16. I can’t believe you think you have reached “whale status”!?! I think you look glowing and beautiful! Sounds like an awesome shower, how exciting! πŸ™‚

  17. You look STUNNING! I would want to know the date of my shower as well, because I have control issues!!! And I adore your husband’s shirt!!

  18. Andrea

First of all, thank-you for all if these great posts. I’m exactly as far along as you, with my first, however not nearly as organized and your research and lists have proven to be invaluable! Which crib mattress did you decide upon? We’ve are considering Naturepedic and Dax. Oh- I used to be a Philly/Manayunk girl, but now live just north of Seattle.

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@Andrea, We went with a Naturepedic one that is $299 from BuyBuy Baby. I just picked it up yesterday and it looks awesome! It has coils not foam, but I don’t know the exact name of it.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I really like being prepared for everything in my life, and I probably take it to an extreme, but I’m having fun getting everything ready!

  19. Momof3boys

I am a mommy to three beautiful boys ages 6, 2 and 7 weeks. The best thing you can do for a babies bum is avoid using wipes. I know this may seem gross to a lot of people but water really makes a difference. I have always washed numbers 2 with water, yes I actually strip the diaper and rinse their bum off under the tap. If needed I use some baby soap. I do use wipes when needed ( traveling or in public places). I use regular diapers, huggies or pampers.

I wish you much happiness with your new addition. You will soon find out that the love you feel for your child is like no other πŸ™‚

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@Momof3boys, I plan/hope to do the same while we are home. Does it take a lot of extra time? Do you keep the top half of the outfit on or strip him down all the way?

We also got cloth wipes. Our pediatrician said the best thing for the baby is to 1. wash them off in the tub and/or 2. simply use a cloth with a bit of water- no sprays or ointments or anything. He said that creams and such should be used VERY rarely and that if we follow his advice we should have minimal diaper rashes. Hope that is true!

  20. We met at a blogger frozen yogurt meet-up in Philadelphia last year, and I just wanted to reconnect and say how nice it’s been to read your blogs. I am 15, almost 16 weeks pregnant, and I love knowing what to expect. Wishing you a continued healthy, happy pregnancy and delivery! By the way, don’t worry about your weight. If you didn’t say how you gained, I’d never know it. You look beautiful.

  21. I’m so glad you remember! πŸ™‚ My due date is January 18th . . . we actually moved to Orlando, Florida in January, so I’ll be delivering at the Florida Hospital! Moving here has been a blessing because I had been seeing a fertility specialist in PA who was very aggressive with my treatment, then came here and got pregnant with very little help (was on a med to lower my DHEAS, a prescursor to testosterone). I’m bummed not being able to be close to family and friends during this time, but I’m blessed to have family here and to be making lots of new friends. It’s so fun to follow along with you!

  22. Jennifer

    Hi Sabrina,
After reading your P.S., I feel like I owe it to you to tell you I’m one of the folks that searched for m/c (I think? I can’t remember if I found it on your baby announcement or searched for it). ANYWAY, I recently went through one – an early m/c, but a m/c nonetheless. It was encouraging to see that there IS life after m/c and I suppose that’s what I was looking for. I have so enjoyed reading about your pg and can’t wait to be in your shoes someday. πŸ™‚

    • RhodeyGirlTests

@Jennifer, Hi Jennifer, Thanks for your comment. I am so sorry for your loss. Mine was at 11 weeks and was a missed miscarriage. It was horrible and sad. I found it reassuring to know that it can be very normal to miscarry in the first trimester and it doesn’t mean anything is wrong. Anyway, I wish you luck in trying again once you and your partner are ready. if you ever want to chat feel free to email me. Best,
      Sabrina

  23. I got a lot of resistance on the cloth diapering too. I just don’t get it….they’re not the ones doing the laundry – we are!
