Nest Philly’s Crawlers Club
This spring, Raffi became a member of Nest Philly’s Crawlers Club.
Nest is an enrichment center and indoor playground in center city Philadelphia. They hold classes in music, sports, movement, enrichment, yoga, cooking, art and more. Raffi’s Crawlers Club class fell under enrichment, and it was a great class for us at an age where the developments came faster than the days.
The class started with the famous Hello song as we went from child to child. I would leave class with that song stuck in my head all day, but I didn’t mind. Each kid would look at himself or herself in a mirror as we sang hello and they loved the attention. After our greetings, we went around the group to discuss anything on our minds. Subjects that came up often were the typical baby issues: solids, sleep, weaning, and activities to encourage the kids to crawl/pull up/walk. I got a lot of great ides from the other moms as well as our instructor Joan.
We spent the rest of the class singing songs, reading a book, and doing a fun activity. Being home with a child all day can be boring, and having a fun class to attend once a week helped break up the week. Aside from that, Joan gave us lots of ideas for activities to do at home.
One week the kids made us a gift for Mother’s Day. Another week there were cardboard boxes set up around the room for the kids to crawl in and out of. A third week there was an obstacle course with a tunnel, big cubes, and more. Each week was new and exciting.
My favorite class was the end of semester pool party. The kids wore their swimsuits and splashed around in a giant baby pool. It was the sweetest end to the semester.
Now that we’ve spent the entire summer without a Nest class, I can 100% confidently say it’s worth it. I wish I had Joan around to give me activities to do at his age, and I know Raffi misses seeing his friends. We looked forward to class every week and made every effort not to miss one. The week was 3 times as long when we had to miss it. If you’re considering taking a class at Nest, I say go for it. Even from a young age Raffi has benefited the classes, and I believe that he crawled faster because of it.
If you have any questions about Nest feel free to ask. I am now their biggest fan.
