A dinner from two cities
My first story:
I was a lazy bum tonight. Well, that’s not exactly true… I decided to clean and prep and do everything for tomorrow and this weekend instead of rushing over to the gym for a quick workout. I’ll go to the gym before work tomorrow.
The real story:
I am the biggest klutz in the world. I was going to prep a little before going to the gym so I threw my clothes on and got to work. I made the huge error of dumping my potato peels from prep work and egg shells from dinner into the garbage disposal. Stupid RhodeyGirl! As soon as I turned the disposal on I cringed. I clogged the thing up. But I am happy to say that for the first time I was able to fix something! I grabbed a mini plunger, got onto a chair in my kitchen, and plunged away! Problem solved. Unfortunately figuring out what to do took me about 45 minutes so by then it is safe to say I wasn’t feeling like heading to the gym.
Since buying my condo in April of 2007 I feel like I have really become a grown up, and actually learned to do some maintenance work and to fix small problems. I have changed my first light bulbs, figured out what a strange monthlong beep was, changed a carbon monoxide detector’s battery, unclogged both toilets and now a sink, got rid of some baby ants in spring, replaced a floor vent, and on and on. They may seem like small tasks, but growing up the guys always had to do all those tasks so it’s so new to me! Feels good anyway.
On to dinner!
I was so jealous of the egg sandwich I made for PB for breakfast this morning that I just had to have eggs for dinner! I made a 1 egg, 2 egg white omelet with 1 oz of Nature’s Promise mozzarella cheese. And a few bites of my fries when they came out of the oven since I had to test them! I decided to make them tonight since they would need to bake for about an hour.
You know what else I’m jealous of? PB’s amazing salad he just had for dinner. When he makes yummy meals he likes to send me pictures of them- I wonder if he knows he excited it makes me to think of the meals we will be sharing during the week once we live together! His salad contains lettuce, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, olives and carrots. Yum! Here it is:
Off to vacuum + clean + watch my dad on TV + then watch ugly betty + grey’s! Happy almost Friday!

Both meals looks tasty! Great job with the disposal!
Um no, I’M the biggest klutz in the world, haha – and hey, you fixed it, so no worries! 🙂
Great salad from PB!!
So much good t.v. tonight!! I’m watching ‘The Office.’
Doesn’t it feel good to take care of the small things around your place? Always so satisfying! Except I think my latest problem I’m going to have to get some help on – hubs came out of the shower holding the towel bar that randomly fell off, and now there’s a good-size hole in our bathroom wall. :/
OOh I want his salad, too!
hey im sorry im a new reader and I really like your blog. Im trying to loose just about 10 pounds and the amount of food you eat looks like the amount I try to eat. I just wanted to know how many calories you aim to eat on a normal day and how you stop from “grazing” which is really my biggest problem. Sorry if this is redundant! keep up the good work 🙂
Lindsey- sounds like a big project is on your hands! let me know how it goes- a good worker could hopefully get that done for you in no time!
Anonymous- I aim to eat between 1300 and 1700 every day depending on my hunger level. I go over sometimes (usually fridays or family dinner night) but i never really go under. I loosely plan my meals every day and always have emergency snacks on hand like an apple, a low calorie bar, or some carrot sticks. I eat about every 3 hours so I always feel like I am eating and I really try to eat voluminous, low calorie meals so I FEEL like I’m eating more than I am. Also, I schedule in exercise so that I MUST do it. I have found that exercise is really a key for me bc it helps me lose weight by burning calories but also helps me keep my eating in check. Hope I helped a bit, and good luck!
whoa pb can whip up an awesome salad! he’s a keeper for sure 😀
what did you think of greys?!?! DENNY IS BACK! *the choirs of angels sing*
i’m a giant klutz too (which is funny because we’re both dancers).. great job fixing the clogged garbage disposal!
have a wonderful night
I love omelettes for dinner! And that plate is ADORABLE 🙂
Prepping is super important, and I’m impressed that you’ve become really handy!
Yay for a light dinner- you just may get to make a small version of that salad you were jealous of if you get hungry later, haha!
Hope your night was great and, jenn’s right, Super cute plate!!
Um, I once tried to use a metal one cup measure to plug the hole in my sink because I wanted to fill the sink. Guess what? It got stuck! I don’t know if I used too much hot water, and it expanded or what!
My hubby ended up having to cut it with giant scissors from his tool box!
Love breakfast for dinner – Tony does not!
