Strawberry Shortcake
This is my version of my auntie’s version of strawberry shortcake. According to my tastetesters it is light and delicious! Neither my dad nor PB are into desserts, and they both ate their whole portions! There are 3 parts to it, plus assembly. I made this for the lunch with the bishop last weekend!
Oh, and by the way, I am posting this TODAY because the great Zestycook tempted me so much with his delicious recipe for Super Simple Skor Bar Trifle yesterday, so now I must tempt him with my own dessert. Muhahaha! (Please go check it out, it looks AMAZZZZZINGGG)
Ok, back to the Strawberry Shortcake:
Before decorating:
After garnishing with gorgeous huge strawberries:
Served on a plate, with powdered sugar:
Ingredients:
2 pints strawberries
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
2 packages storebought ladyfingers
4 tablespoons Grand Marnier
A. The Strawberries
Wash and slice 2 pints of strawberries. Add one tablespoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of sugar. Mix and put aside.
B. The Whipped Cream
Using a hand mixer, Whip 1 cup of heavy cream for about two minutes. Then add 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract and whip for 2 more minutes, until stiff peaks form.
C: The Ladyfingers
I buy readymade ladyfingers. Brush them with 1 part grand marnier to two parts water (grand marnier alone will be too strong).
D. The Assembly
Place the brushed ladyfingers on the bottom of a pretty dessert serving plate. Put 1/3 of the whipped cream over it. Then put 1/3 of the strawberries. Repeat two times, and garnish as you like.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Or watch as others enjoy, as this bride to be did!)
