Grilled Pizza!!!!
PB is a GENIUS! He had the great idea to grill pizzas this weekend instead of cooking them in the oven. PB is our family pizzamaker as his dough is just the best. Seriously, check out his dough (and lack of flour mess might I add):
I don’t know how he does it but he is great at making dough and pizza. I only had a little taste of the final product but I do know that there were no leftovers!
After rising he rolled out the dough super thin and I brushed it with a little olive oil before placing it on the super hot grill:
As soon as the dough bubbled a litle I flipped it. See the nice grill marks? My favorite!
Right after the flip I added toppings. Here is an example of one type of pizza I did:
I did a few different types of pizza including a couple with the leftover grilled veggies from the afternoon. I set up all the potential toppings in bowls and brought them outside on a tray so I wouldn’t waste time! Look at these amazing toppings:
Shoutout to the chopped veggies ready for their pizza!!!:
Here are the veggie pizzas on the grill:
It was a little hard to top the pizzas neatly because the grill was so hot!
My grilled pizza tips:
1. Top the pizza AS SOON AS you flip the dough. The dough cooks very quickly and if you leave it on too long it will get hard!
2. Make sure the grill is really hot for the same reason as #1!!!! The first couple of pizzas I grilled took a little while to cook (like 4 minutes each side) and they ended up hard and yucky I guess!
Homemade dough and pizzas are a really easy way to impress while entertaining on a budget. We held the cookout for 10 people (not including salad or fruit salad) for only $110… and everything was organic. Do I even need to mention that there were also LEFTOVERS? It is amazing how when you take the time to make a few things yourself you can really save! We had tons of food including burgers, salad, grilled veggies, grilled pizzas, corn on the cob, etc, and it didn’t break the bank. I call that a success!
This is so cool! I’m going to try it with my grill pan 🙂
im not sure if I’ve ever had grilled pizza before! I used to swoon over it while watching it pop up all over Food Network summer episodes!! PB’s dough looks insanely amazing!! I gotta find me a boy like that!
wow your pizzas just keep getting better and better!
