Philadelphia: Honey’s Sit ‘N Eat
Another Northern Liberties find.
I love a good breakfast joint. There’s nothing better than running some early morning errands on a sunny day and then sitting down for a break for a good dish of eggs or some classic french toast.
YUM.
I’ve only been to Honey’s Sit ‘N Eat once, but ever since I’ve been trying to get PB to take me back. I’ve literally tried every excuse in the book, but it hasn’t happened yet. I’m not sure why because it was one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in Philadelphia. Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s because I’ve been running him down with all of the house projects!
Honey’s is not on the main strip of Northern Liberties, but rather it is tucked away in one of the neighborhoods. They pride themselves on using hand gathered eggs from free range chickens in Lancaster County, locally grown vegetables whenever possible, and almost everything (including the mayo) is freshly homemade.
Doesn’t that sound like the type of place you want to visit?
The decor is nothing special and nothing to note, but the environment is hopping at all appropriate brunch hours on the weekend. You’ll find new families, Philadelphia’s hipsters, hungover party birds and more all in one setting. It’s what you want out of a breakfast place. We had a wait of about 20 minutes when we went, but they have benches outside and the time passed quickly.
Highlight: The french toast. We ordered a side to share among all of us, and I wish I had ordered a whole order for myself. Ok, and the eggs were fantastic too. You could taste how fresh they are.
What to watch for: I guess just the wait, but again, with the benches outside the time passed quickly. And it’s always a sign of good food when you have to wait for it. Get there early if you can’t stand waiting for a table!

I’m drooling over that french toast!
love honey’s!! have you been to sabrina’s yet? another winner 🙂 just get there early!
@shannon, Yup! We go to Sabrina’s every time people visit. The one in Fairmount is really close to where we live. I like their lunch more than their breakfast though.
Are you coming to HLS next weekend?
@RhodeyGirlTests, ooh, they have another location?! fun 🙂 i had a hard time straying from their breakfast burrito!
unfortunately I’m on dog-sitting duty, but I’ll be back in PHL soon! probably after bambino’s arrival 🙂
Their potato latkes are my favorite!!
Oh, yum. That looks like my kind of place. Luckily, I’m not TOO far a way from Philly. Maybe I can convince my husband to take me before our son makes his debut!
Love all your Philly recommendations! 🙂 I went to college right outside of Philly and am finally getting a chance to come back and visit after 3 years! We are staying in Center City and then making our way to the Main Line, so your posts are helpful! 🙂
Do you get anything (free stuff) from the businesses that you tout? Just curious.
@Pepper, If I have received anything for free it is always mentioned in the post. In restaurant cases the only time I get “free stuff” (aka food/drink) is for a PR event. I haven’t attended one in a long time though (since I got pregnant pretty much).
I do always make sure to give my honest opinions on anything I review. The reason you only see the places and products I LOVE on here is because I choose to only write about my positive experiences. Yelp has plenty of negative reviews on restaurants that someone can check out. Why would I need to add to the negativity? I prefer instead to share the fantastic places that I really enjoy, like Honey’s!
I hope this answers your question.
I love Honey’s! I had the most amazing veggie sandwich there. I also love Northern Liberties, I got married around the corner at Cescaphe:-)
I LOVE a good breakfast place!!
I saw this place on that show diners, drive ins and dives the other day! It looked good!
That French Toast looks delicious! My mouth is watering!
