Last night in our first home.
Tonight is the last night in our first home together. It’s the home where we:
- hosted our first dinner parties together
- had many Friday night pizza nights
- ran our first half marathon
- finished our first puzzle together
- designed new bathrooms
- brought home our baby boy
- and on and on and on
Trig & I right after I settled in to Philly, August 2009:
(Oh, how I miss those skinny arms…)
I am really excited to move to our new home tomorrow, but as I sit here on my last day in our first home I am a bit sad. We made so many great memories here, and I am reluctant to move on. Change is thrilling and exciting and fun, but it is also scary. When we got married, or when I moved to Philly, or when my husband started his new job, or when we brought home our son, I was scared but adapted quickly. I hope the same for this new change.
How will Raffi like his new home? Will I ever learn to park in our very small new parking spot? What special home will my favorite serving pieces and plates and cups find? How will Saturday mornings feel? Will the sun hit my face at 6 AM, or will it be soft and dark in my room until late afternoon?
As we take another step in the path of our lives, I recall our beautiful memories and look forward to creating new ones.
Signed,
Farewell to Fairmount

I’ve been said with every home I’ve left (some more than others!) Wishing you lots of happiness in your new home!
@Hillary, *sad
Have a good move!
you are leaving a lot of memories in your first home but you will be making so many new ones with little Raffi! Wishing you the best, and good luck with the move!!!
Love reading your posts. Good luck with the move, we moved about 8 weeks before my son was born. I don’t know which sounds more challenging! Not sure where you live (understandable to not post that sort of stuff, ha) but I live in Center City (Rittenhouse area) and have a 5.5 month old son, Elliot. I stay at home with him and am always looking to find mom friends in the area…if you’re moving my way, let me know!
Sabrina! Fairmount will certainly miss you. As will RyBread ๐
Onto bigger and better, right?! ๐ Although, it is still always bittersweet.
awhhh! fairmount will miss you too! i will miss being your almost-neighbor (although we are likely on our way out of the city…). good luck with the new move and let me know if you need company for your first dinner party ๐ xx
Beautiful post ๐ Good luck in your new home- you have so many more amazing memories ahead of you.
You will always have those precious memories! On to making new ones! ๐
Good luck with your move! I moved to a new home a year ago and I still daydream about my old kitchen which was huge!
Good luck! We are relocating when I will be 30 weeks pregnant (ahhh) and I have to admit, I am a little sad we won’t be bringing our son home to the first house his daddy and I bought together.
You will always have your precious memories in your first home. Now you can make new memories with Raffi and your hubby in your new home. Change is good! Best of luck with the move and post pictures of your new place when your settled in. And by the way, your arms are beautiful no matter what size they are. ๐
aw! <3
Best wishes in your new home ๐ You are leaving good memories behind but think of all the fantastic memories still to come. THIS is the home you will cherish with your guys :o) Raffi is gonna have so many firsts here!
We are military so we move a lot. Every house is meaningful but we always look forward to our next stop!
Now that you’ve moved would you mind sharing the cross street where you used to live? I live in the Fairmount area too but more South than you did, I think. My fiance and I are thinking about buying sometime soon. I loved your old place and want to look around your old area!
