  1. Exciting! Our Dr recommended 2x a day- once an hour after her breakfast bottle and once an hour after her dinner bottle. Seems to be working great! Shes tried so many new foods already and hasn’t hated anything! Makes me happy to have her eating REAL foods as her first foods. Hopefully it will help her (and Raffi) love fruits and veggies

@Erica, Did you wait until 6 months? Are you still nursing? I want to be sure I protect my supply so that nursing is still his primary form of nourishment. One of my friends had to stop like 2 weeks after starting solids because her son ate so much, and she had to make the switch to formula.

  2. She had her first solid at 5 months. I am not still nursing. It was getting to hard to pump while I was working :(. The solids did not increase Kaylins appetite at all…but I’m sure its different from child to child!

  3. I LOVE his reaction…so puzzled. Do you mind sharing what high chair you have. We are about to purchase one and I have no idea what to get!

  4. The process of eliminating what NOT to get is just as helpful. Thanks!

  5. Solids are so much fun. Bronwen wasn’t in to them that much – not until about 9 months or so. And it wasn’t until this last week (at 10 months) that she was getting more in her mouth than on the floor. I finally feel that she is getting some solids for nourishment and I have seen her start to have less interest in the bottle.
Every baby is different, but we didn’t rush solids either (because honestly, it’s a lot of work!).
(and if you ever consider a new highchair, the Keekaroo is the bomb. Or, if you want to go cheap, the fisher price booster seats are a great option too).

  6. Ha!!! So cute!!! I don’t think he’s sure??? I can’t believe how big he’s getting!!! So handsome!

Ella had avocado at almost 5 months and I took it slow, then actually just waited until 6 1/2 months to feed her solids again. It is fun though!! I always did milk first, then some solids lie an hour or hour and a half later and she only took a few bites–just to get the motor skill of chewing down. I never gave her anything real watery, more stuff she would gum, still pureed, but stuff she would chew not just swallow!

  7. HAHAHA … LOVE IT! He didn’t cry so I am going to go with love 😉 We started Emmie on avocado and then peas … so far so good 🙂 I try to give her a few bites a couple times a day to get her used to eating them. She doesn’t eat a lot at each time but definitely loves them!

  8. What a face!!! Love it. Venturing into solids was SO exciting for us, and cooking and eating together continues to be one of my favorite things to do with Owen. It just gets better and better 🙂
