In the Holiday Spirit
What’s this?
Two posts in one day?!?! I am in a chatty mood so here I am to chat. Plus, I have a giveaway to share with you!
I was just in the kitchen preparing a rocking meal for PB and I to have tonight. I had defrosted a whole wheat dough (it’s about 75% whole wheat), started boiling chicken for buffalo chicken calzones (I make them differently from this link but the inspiration is still Itzy Kitchen’s version) and made the vegetable filling for my calzones. I am not going to share the ingredients because I will redo it later this week, but let me tell you, it was GOOD. I then reached into the cabinet to get a small glass bowl to put some guacamole in for my lunch, and…. I am sure you can guess the rest. The bowl went flying and shattered into a million little pieces. Glass was in the vegetable filling, the pot with the chicken breast and water, all over the counter, on the floor, EVERYWHERE! I even cut my lip, or rather, right above my lip, just the tiniest bit. This is the 4th thing I have broken in the last two weeks. I must have a real Holiday Spirit hanging around making me be clumsy. Needless to say I had to trash it all for fear of ingesting glass. I decided to just make a pizza instead. I went to roll out the dough, and it smelled… funky. I had to trash it too. You should really defrost dough and use it right away, but we ended up out to eat yesterday so I threw it in the fridge. The fridge later meant the garbage. I had to start completely fresh and new, clean up a lot of glass, and clean up all the pots and pans I used… with no meal to show for it.
It is one of those days.
Luckily, I am still smiling. Besides the fact that it was just one meal, one bowl, and one mess (for today), I have two happy things to share!
One.
Holiday Teas!
The market (Super Fresh on C. Columbus Blvd in Philadelphia) finally has this season’s holiday teas. I was so excited I went a little overboard and got all three types I saw: Nutcracker Sweet, Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride, & Gingerbread Spice!
Two.
