Adesso Restaurant in Providence, RI
Adesso Restaurant off Thayer St. in Providence, RI was one of my favorite restaurants growing up.
It closed years ago.
I really, really miss it.
We celebrated many birthdays there, my cousin and my high school graduation was celebrated there, and most random Friday nights were spent enjoying dinner there.
I still dream of their gnocchi in a pink vodka sauce, made entirely in house. Their four cheese pizza, which included a favorite soft and creamy cheese and dollops of fresh sauce. The mascarpone dessert, dotted with chocolate chips and a crumbled amaretti cookie.
I miss Adesso like you wouldn’t believe. If anyone knows where the head chef is now or has the gnocchi recipe and is willing to share it with me, I will be forever grateful. Same with the mascarpone dessert recipe.
Consider the hunt for the Adesso of the past on. Please send any and all tips my way!!

i really need to go to rhode island…like STAT. there’s a guy i work with who’s from there and he says the same things you do about it! i need to be there 🙂
Hope you find what you’re looking for! I have a restaurant I used to love that closed too…wonder where that chef is today!
sabrina,
my mutual love of adesso has caused me to de-lurk. i’ve always loved your blog because, as a fellow rhodey girl myself, your mention of local haunts has made reading your posts more enjoyable! adesso was another one of my faves, i was partial to the half moon ravioli.. yum! i know that one of the owners of adesso now owns basta in edgewood, and the other owns antonio’s in cranston. as far as the chefs, i only know of the whereabouts of one, and he works at the carnegie abbey golf club in portsmouth. hope you get to make it to one of these spots the next time you’re in rhodey!
@kay, Thank you SO much for your comment! I am just dying to find that gnocchi once again, although the half moon ravioli were also delicious! As was the salmon with the horseradish crust! Thanks for the info- antonio’s is near my family’s office but I’ve never eaten there. I will have to check it out! THANKS!
@RhodeyGirl, no worries, thank YOU for all the wonderful recipes & lovely entertaining tips. i look forward to reading your posts every day!
I can relate so much to your post! I came on here to see if I could find the recipe for their 4 cheese pizza. I miss it so much…that, and the bbq chix pizza, the black pepper linguine with shrimp and asparagus, the blackened calamari! Also the fresh fruit tart (which you can still enjoy from Pastiche).
I used to eat there 2x a week. It’s where I had my bridal shower, many b-day parties and one of the last meals I ate out before I had my daughter almost 12 years ago.
Adesso…I miss you!
how about the creste di gallo pasta, I dream about it. I need to find that recipe!
@Will, Agreed. I heard that one of the old chefs works at Sidebar, but I never have had the chance to confirm that. If you find the recipe, please share!
I use to work at Adesso, and probably waited on you and your family! I googled Adesso, ( this is how I found your blog) because Blaise, the owner is opening Adesso on the Hill soon. Not sure if the old recipes will come back though. I so hope so! We are all dying to have the old Adesso food.
Hi Everyone, For your questions about Adesso, Michelle is right! Adesso will be opening up again, It will be named Adesso On The Hill, Located on Federal Hill. I know this because Blaise, the owner of Adesso, is my dad. As far as the old recipes, most of them will be back and I am sure alot of new ones. But those dishes that were mentioned above, homemade gnocchi’s in a pink tomato cream sauce (not pink vodka sauce), four cheese pizza, cresto di gallo, black pepper linguine, tha salmon etc. are what made Adesso’s so good and brought you back. I hope to see you all there when we open!! You are what made Adesso and we can’t wait to have you back!!! Adesso On The Hill will have a website, which will be done shortly and a FaceBook page which I am currently working on. Check on these sites to find out our Opening date. Hope to see you all soon!!!
Thank you,
Wendy
p.s. Hi Michelle!!
@Wendy,
Heard the good news in the paper. Looking forward to the opening.
My childrens great uncle Joe Loppi, RIP, knew Blaise well.

This is, by far, the greatest news I’ve heard in a very long long time! I have been DREAMING about my very favorite pasta dish ever – the Creste di Gallo – and have been lamenting Adesso’s closing years ago. I am so excited and wil keep my eye out for the opening info and for the Facebook page. I am THRILLED!

I just got word that they are open on Fed hill. This brings back so many wonderful memories. I brought many dates to the Adesso on Cushing Street. It was always a good dinner. I was in at LEAST once a week Usually around 9ish! Unfortunately, they closed just as I had met my wife, and she never got the opportunity to enjoy a date there. I still remember the Peter Zemmer Pinot Gricio bottles. I can not wait to try the new place this weekend.
Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a tough time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution
and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then
most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
