Cantina Salad
The best salads have many different textures and flavors. I often eat the same basic salad night after night, but I was recently inspired by the mixta salad at Cantina Dos Segundos. I had to recreate it at home. PB liked it so much he has already asked me to make it again. This salad is easy to prepare and unexpectedly fantastic. The creamy avocado paired with the crunchy jicama and sweet orange segments make this salad completely satisfying and irresistible. See for yourself.

What restaurant dish do you want to recreate at home?

owww- Fantastic! I love love jicama and I haven’t purchased it in so long. It goes really well with sweet fruity flavors. The combination of almonds and avocado is definitely unexpected. Just perfect!
Hi !!!!
Amazing ,,,, yammmy !
Sabrina! THis looks delicious and I definitely want to make this one. I was just at Trattoria Giussepe’s with my mom Sunday night and had this amazing salad that I’m probably going to recreate soon. It has mixed greens with walnuts, strawberries, mangoes, figs, mozzarella, apples, (I know I’m missing one more thing), tossed in a homemade raspberry vinaigrette. It’s absolutely amazing! Can’t wait to try this one!
@Ana T, Ana that sounds amazing. Where is Trattoria Giuseppe?
This salad looks delicious – I really love hearts of palm but never think about using them!
@Rachel (Two Healthy Plates), They can be pricey but it is worth it to change up a salad now and again!
ooooh, where does one find smoked almonds? that sounds divine!
@Heather (Heather’s Dish), Blue Diamond sells them. I buy them from the regular market. They smokiness reminds me of bacon in a good way.
This recipe looks great. I am intrigued by the citrus and avocado in the mix. Sounds delicious!
Yummy! This salad looks light and refreshing! Maybe I’ll make it tonight, especially since we’re experiencing 100+ degrees here in northern CA and I can’t take the heat in the kitchen! Thanks!
Simple and delicious!
That salad looks amazing! When we were in Mexico on our honeymoon I ate a jicama, avocado, orange, red onion, and walnut salad with a delicious light citrus dressing nearly every day. I have never tried to recreate it, but with your recipe I think I will try.
Sounds so delicious! Remember that first time we had dinner? My salad had jicama and I loved it. I need to get some I guess.
@Hangry Pants, I remember that salad and miss that one too!
