Running on Happy.
I’m in Rhode Island, it’s snowing, and my dad and I had lots of laughs today.
And so, Christmas week begins!
I won’t be cooking at all this week aside from the big Christmas Eve fest and my morning english muffins (which I can’t call cooking anyway), and it is kind of liberating. I don’t have to plan any meals or do any grocery shopping. I can just meet friends and family for lunches and dinners and focus all of my time and effort on Christmas Eve!
And Christmas Eve is going to be a doozy. I think I am slowly progressing into my next level of entertaining. I keep thinking about the night and I can’t help but want to make the food look prettier than ever. I also want things to be different than they have been. I am in the mood for change and I am not sure how to accomplish it. I’ve had a few thoughts so far. For example, I plan to wrap pieces of prosciutto around breadsticks instead of in little caprese stackers, and we haven’t done that for awhile. Small changes lead to big ones, right?
I am also going to set up my iPod with Christmas music so no one puts on the news (hopefully). My dad and uncles and most of the guys in general love putting on CNN on holidays. I’m not a fan. π
Anyway, in case you can’t tell by this scatter-minded post, I am feeling so happy here! And busy! I miss Rhode Island so much when I’m in Philly. It was easy to start a new life in Philly, but no one tells you how hard it is to be away from your old life where all of your memories were made.
Right now I’m running on the happy, fresh feeling of Rhode Island. And a to-do list a mile… and a half.. long.
It feels good to be home.
I hope you have a fabulous time! It certainly sounds like you will. π
i’m so glad you’re going to be home…and i know exactly how you feel! i’m so excited to go back to the south again, even if it’s only for week π it feels good to go somewhere familiar!

Sabrina! I’m so jealous.. I’m not headed to RI until Christmas Eve. I’m sure your menu will go off without a hitch and new traditions are always fun to introduce, especially when traveling etc create a new holiday feeling in general. It can be hard, but holidays seem to have to evolve with time. Regardless, have a wonderful Rhodey holiday and I look forward to seeing your finalized plans!
That’s such a wonderful picture. Your Christmas Eve celebration is going to be amazing! Have a wonderful holiday!
Welcome back Sabrina! Enjoy your holiday visit.
