40 weeks: We did it!
I am so happy and blessed to be a mom. We did it!
A quick recap of how things are going before I get back to my beautiful new life…
– Labor and delivery went really well. I can’t wait to share the whole birth story with you. Once I figure out how to manage everything I did before plus take care of bambino I will share it.
– I’m in love with my son and I never want to put him down. He already knows Trig and I and I know he knows we love him. He has long chicken legs like I did as a newborn, and I think he has my mom’s chin.
– Breastfeeding is going as well as I imagine it can be with a 3 day old. Last night he fed for literally the whole night while I struggled to stay awake. The pediatrician said this is normal for the hours right before your milk comes in.
– Seeing my husband now as a father brings tears to my eyes (which is another story). I see how in love he is with bambino and how much he loves me too.
– I’ve been feeling a little more emotional than usual, especially when I’m really tired. I understand that this is normal, but I am surprised by how easily the tears will come.
– Newborns were always ugly little gremlins to me… until now. My baby is so super cute I can’t take it! I want to kiss his face all the time but the pediatrician told us that is a no no.
– Bambino is in the 93rd percentile for length and 25th for weight. He is long and skinny.
– I am not long and skinny. IΒ lost 15+ lbs right away so I have about 25 to go to my pre-pregnancy weight and 35 to my normal, comfortable weight. I am constantly surprised by how small my belly is in the mirror already.
– I feel great. I got lucky with my labor and delivery and I’ll explain more later. Suffice it to say that I only have one little stitch and I already feel fantastic aside from the exhaustion and breastfeeding pain. In fact, I felt awesome within one hour of the birth.
Now it’s time for me to go back and snuggle with my new family. I miss them already!
PS- Cute pic of bambino over on Babycenter today!

Yayyyy! I am commenting at 430 am as i am up feeding haha. Breast feeding is such a longgg and ouchy process at first! It def gets easier fast. Glad yall are happy and doing well!
Congrats!
I’ve been waiting for your update since I’m at 39 weeks as well.
He is TOO cute! I am so happy for you. Congratulations! Are we going to get to learn the name or will that be kept private? (I think you have every right to keep it private, just curious…I’m a baby name dork, haha.) Bambino’s lucky to have the two of you as parents!
Congratulations Sabrina!!
Your baby is so cute. Sounds like things went according to plan (as much as possible) and I can’t wait to read all about the rest. Enjoy breast feeding. It is tough, and sometimes you just feel like giving up, but if you stick with it, I am sure you will get the results you want. My breast feeding consultant told me to pump for 5 minutes after baby feeds, take a break, do another 5 minutes. I guess that tells your body that baby needs more milk and so you produce more. It worked, but I didn’t have enough to exclusively bfeed. I breast fed for 6 months, but also gave baby formula because I couldn’t satisfy his hunger all the time. One piece of advise, if it hurts when you breast feed (for me it lasted 2 months) I found a breast feeding balm by Mustela that made it so much better. Good luck!!!
Congratulations! He is adorable!!
He is a gorgeous baby! Love reading all of your bambino posts:-)
Congrats on your little boy, I can’t wait to hear his birth story, as your plan was similar to mine! And we just found out yesterday we are expecting a little boy!!
He is perfect!! Congratulations Sabrina!
You sure are keeping all the labor details under wraps! Did you get to follow your birth plan? I hope so!
And I think Bambino is already such a handsome little man, too! Adorable! π
Congratulations!! He is such a cutie!!! Glad everything went smoothly for you! π
I kind of cannot get over how adorable he is, Sabrina! Glad to hear that everything went smoothly, and that you all are safe and happy at home.
Big big congrats to you both! Sabrina- I live in Philly also and was wondering if you would mind sharing where you chose to deliver. We’re thinking about having a baby soon but I don’t really have a doctor/midwife in mind. Thanks so much!
Sooo glad to hear everything is going well! Bambino is ADORABLE! Congrats to the happy parents!
sabrina, he is GORGEOUS! i used the think newborns weren’t that cute either, but the more beautiful friends of mine that have them the more i fall in love…they’re so cute! i can’t wait to hear the birth story and how you’re adjusting to mommyhood π
Yay!! How exciting. I am getting teary-eyed over here as I feel my little girl move. Ackkkk. What a beautiful blessing having life, new life in your arms. May your family be blessed Sabrina. π
So handsome! I didn’t know you couldn’t kiss his little face repeatedly. I think I would straight up die having to wait to do that! So many congrats again. Best wishes!
Oh.my.gosh he is beyond stinking adorable!!! Congrats to you and the hubby- I can’t wait to hear more!
Congratulations! I usually think newborns are gremlin-y too (in fact my best friend had her son the same day as you and he’s quite alien-like!) but bambino is adorable, seriously! Can’t wait to hear all about it and his name (if you’re sharing). Good luck these first few days/weeks getting used to your new life. π
Congrats! Sounds like it’s going great!
So happy your labor went well- that makes recovery so much easier!
Also, on the tears…I used to have a nightly cry around 6 p.m. for the first three months of Lucy’s life. Darn those hormones! Eventually they went away, though. Hang in there! He’s truly a doll!
Congratulations, Sabrina! I’m so happy for you and your growing family <3 xoxo
I love this post. Becoming a mom is nothing anyone can understand until you experience it. Being pregnant doesn’t prepare you, reading doesn’t prepare you and people’s stories don’t prepare you for the intense love that you feel for a perfect stranger! And as soon as you are a mom, other moms now know, that you know! I love his little outfit and am totally jealous that you got to have him naturally. If the nursing is painful I think I mentioned before that there is a prescription cream a compounding pharmacy can make that is like a miracle and totally safe. Let me know if you’re interested in it…. I can go find mine and tell you the name.
And don’t listen to that pediatrician KISS that baby every second!!! I kiss Sloane every minute.
Seriously happy for you….and the emotions…well, let’s just say it is now part being a mom. I cry at everything it seems now…commercials with kids, babies even when I read that you had him. Being a mom changes you.
So happy for all of you, Sabrina! He is so beautiful and so alert! Make sure you get your rest!!
Congrats Sabrina! I am so happy for all of you!
Congrats! Sounds like things are going just as they should be π Enjoy that lil guy of yours.
Congrats, Sabrina!! Enjoy EVERY MINUTE! They grow up so fast – mine are already 14 and 9. I don’t even know how that happened π
No kisses on the baby’s face??? What kind of advice is that??? SMOOCH THAT BABY!!! π
He IS super cute! Newborns are usually all squishy and don’t open their eyes π Congratulations again and thanks for sharing your experience with us.
He is so adorable! Congratulations on the birth of your Bambino!
my little nephew born in June was similarly long and skinny– 7lb 10oz and 21 inches long! give him a couple months though, he’ll fill out and have adorably pinchable cheeks π he’s precious. can’t wait to hear the name and hear your birth story!
Congratulations! This is such a happy post. Thank you for sharing with us!
Hahaha I agree that lots of babies looks sort of…alien-ish. But yours is cute! I love his little button nose. π
Congrats! I am so happy everything went well and you have a healthy sweet baby! I have loved following your updates!
AH! He’s so adorable! So happy for you! I am interested to hear how birth went and how life with a newborn is going – especially with cloth diapers + wipes and breastfeeding – which BTW, thanks for mentioning the pain. I feel like people leave that out when they talk about breastfeeding and my mom has told me how much it hurts. Congrats again!
He is so cute!! Best wishes to you and Trig! I’m so glad your labor and delivery experience went as you hoped and you’re feeling well!
Aw Bambino is perfect!
Yay! Congrats! Glad everything went great.
And I kissed (and still kiss) my little guy all the time…didn’t know that was a no-no? He seems to have survived all of my kisses so far π
Adorable! Congrats to you guys! π
He is such a beautiful baby Sabrina! Congratulations!!
Congratulations!! He is adorable!
Congrats Sabrina and Trig!! I’m so happy and excited for the both of you! He’s absolutely perfect and adorable, I love his lil nose and big eyes, precious! π

Oh, my gosh, Bambino is TRULY adorable. I’m spilling over with happiness for you and your beautiful family!
He’s beautiful! π
Congratulations!!!! And sending your a big electronic hug!!! I’m so so happy for you π π Can’t wait to read about your whole birthing story!!
A big congrats to you Sabrina! He is SO freaking cute! Most newborns aren’t that cute… just sayin’ π Congratulations, you proud mama!
Congratulations on your little doll!!
Take your time getting into the swing of things – we’ll all be here!!
Enjoy your boys!
Congratulations, he is absolutely gorgeous!!! Just be prepared… even though you don’t think it’s possible, you will fall more in love each day :).
Congrats to you and Trig!!!! I want to kiss his face all day long too :). What a cutie pie.
