Jersey Boys is the best show I’ve ever seen.
How’s that for a headline? Jersey Boys is the best show I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen plenty of different musicals.
This weekend Trig took me to NYC for the night as our first time away together since having Raffi. We had an early dinner at Becco on Restaurant Row, saw Jersey Boys, and stayed up past midnight (whaaaat?) walking around. It was lovely.
The highlight of the weekend, aside from laying in bed until the crazy hour of 9:30 AM, was definitely Jersey Boys. I had no idea what to expect since I’ve clearly been living under a rock for the last 8 years, but I’m glad I went in not knowing anything. I was blown. away.
I had all of these intelligent thoughts I wanted to share about the show, but of course I can’t remember them now. The music grabbed me from the first moment, and I melted into the story of Frankie Valli with all of its highs and lows. When Act One finished I forgot where we were and what we were doing. Throughout the show Trig and I kept looking at one another and smiling, our legs bouncing to the beat. The stage was simple, and it didn’t have or need all of the bells and whistles that most musicals have these days. While the music is before my time, I grew up with it and it brought many memories back. The music in Jersey Boys makes you happy – you can’t help but feel good listening to it and watching the show.
I left the show energized and inspired. We spent the ride home from Philly today listening to the album, and when we picked up Raffi we continued to play the album again as he danced around in his car seat.
Another highlight of the weekend was our breakfast at Sarabeth’s. I had the best currant scone with butter and raspberry preserves. I ate it over 10 hours ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. I want to go back to the city just to have another.

I’m so glad you liked Jersey Boys! If you loved that show you will LOVE Million Dollar Quartet if you haven’t already seen it. I highly recommend it if you get the chance to go! Also, good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! I’m 24 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have enjoyed going back and re-reading your pregnancy post with Raffi.
I haven’t seen Jersey Boys, but I loooooove The Four Seasons’music so it’s high on my list… Especially now!

LOVED Jersey Boys and LOVE LOVE LOVE Sarabeth’s. I am still remembering how amazing the raspberry preserves were — and I went in October 2011 🙂 Glad you had a nice date!
I was blown away by Jersey Boys as well! I didn’t know anything going into the show and had such a good time. Glad you had a great night in NYC! 🙂
Really hope this film gets made… The musical is excellent, and the team behind this movie look like they’d do it justice.
