Insanity month two: max interval plyo
Insanity month two’s max interval plyo workout is definitely my least favorite. Having done all of the different workouts now I can say that with confidence.
I don’t like max interval plyo because it feels too intense for me. The jumping moves hurt my chest and sometimes my weak ankle (the one I sprained by falling down the stairs while pregnant). And the intensity of the intervals, especially the first one, make me feel defeated. I push myself as hard as I can do, and no matter what either my heart or my legs need to take a break now and again. Being a competitive person I hate that I can’t make it through the whole workout without extra breaks.
Oh, I also hate that the workout is an hour long. It’s just a long time for a mom of 2. Getting up at 5:30 to get it done and get showered before the kids get up is not fun.
I’ll try and check back in on this workout at the end to see if I hate it less when I’m stronger. For now, I hate every minute of it.

I just did this one last night too, my second time, and I hate it too. My favorite is the max cardio conditioning, I like not stopping but just lowering the intensity and you never have to repeat any of the moves!
Just want to say you’re doing GREAT!!! You’re going to look back and say, “I did what crazy workout schedule getting up before dawn everyday when I had a wee one and a toddler?? And at the end I looked BANGIN! But I can’t believe I did that!” I think it’s AMAZING and just wanted to send you a little encouragement. I trained for and ran my first half marathon before my baby (sniffle) turned 1 and I’m still so proud of myself. Keep it up girl! 🙂
Thank you so much! I needed to hear that.
Hey Sabrina,
I’ve never done Insanity (my husband does it). I did do P90X before pregnancy and loved it. But I was going to mention- I have been doing the “Pretty Fierce” Weight Loss DVDs by Lindsay Brin (she specializes in prenatal and postpartum fitness), and they are awesome. The workouts are intense but definitely less so than Insanity, and they are designed for a mom’s schedule. I got mine for 50% off on Baby Steals- not sure if it’s still on there. Keep up the great work!
Kate
Thanks! I’ll look into it after Insanity.
